Sustainability
Desert Diamond Arena and ASM Global are committed to reducing our environmental impact through ongoing efforts in energy conservation, water efficiency, waste diversion and recycling. We continuously seek opportunities to enhance sustainability and educate both guests and staff on eco-friendly practices, striving to create a greener venue for our guests.
PROTECT THE ENVRIONMENT
Resource Conservation and Management -- Energy and Water: We focus on managing and reducing our energy and water consumption through our ASM Global Acts metric tracking platform allowing us to monitor and understand opportunities for reduction. We also focus our efforts through retrofits of our equipment to increase efficiency. This includes switching to LED lights and low flow fixtures throughout the building, and native desert landscaping for the exterior.
Waste Diversion: The arena has various diversion streams to ensure minimal waste goes to landfills, instead being recycled, composted, donated or reused. This includes composting in the kitchen areas, food donation to the local community, and conducting a "double pick" of the arena post-event to ensure that recyclables are collected and sorted correctly.
Green Cleaning Products: Our team uses eco-friendly cleaning products that are biodegradable and made with reduced packaging and lower toxicity. Over 90% of our cleaning products are Green Seal Certified or equivalent.
Sustainable Purchasing: The arena strives to use products and services that have a minimal negative impact on the environment.
Wellness: Desert Diamond Arena understands the unique needs of all our visitors. That is why we provide amenities such as Nursing Mothers' Rooms, Family Restrooms and a Sensory Room.
INVEST IN PEOPLE
WHAT WE ARE DOING
Desert Diamond Arena is dedicated to training and developing our team members to minimize their carbon footprint within the arena. We are equally devoted to creating an inclusive environment for our team, guests and communities.
STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITIES
Desert Diamond Arena is dedicated to giving back and strengthening our community, with our commitment demonstrated through our actions that benefit our team, guests and local residents.
Adopt-A-Street
The Community Volunteer Project, organized by the City of Glendale, has a goal to improve the quality of life for Glendale residents and volunteers through valuable public service projects. The Adopt-A-Street program is a way for Desert Diamond Arena and volunteers to maintain designated streets clear of trash and debris.
Arbor Day Tree Donation
On Arbor Day, we partnered with the City of Glendale and country star, Kacey Musgraves, to donate trees to a local park near the arena. The city held an event around the tree donation where elementary students could help plant the trees and learn more about the importance of taking care of our environment.
Desert Fanatics Veterans Flag Run
The Desert Fanatics Veterans Flag Run is a convoy of vehicles with American flags to show support for our Veterans.
Operation Santa Claus
Desert Diamond Arena provided a donation to Operation Santa Claus, a program that provides gifts to children in need during the holidays.
Tower Challenge
In honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001, and in continued honor of our first responders and military who protect us from foreign and domestic threats, we gather to pay our respects at the annual 9/11 Tower Challenge. All proceeds benefit the 100 Club of Arizona.
Toys for Tots
Desert Diamond Arena annually participates in collecting gifts for Toys For Tots. The past few years, we have partnered with Matchroom Boxing to donate toys during their December fight weigh-ins at the arena. All of the boxers will donate a toy during the weigh-in, as well as our staff members.
